How You Can Help
To begin you might be interested to know how they help themselves as well.  It is very obvious that the vast majority of people in Kenya do not want indefinite aid.  They want to help themselves.

Catherine runs a fashion design business, this makes a significant contribution to the running costs of the school. Catherine takes no personal expenses from the business. A bonus is they use the business to teach design and tailoring.  In addition full time tailors are employed from Kibera slum.  Fair wages are paid to all employees.

You can make a one off Donation, this can go into the general fund or if you want it to go to something specific please tell us and this can be arranged.

General donation by standing order, as above either into general funds or to something specific.

Sponsorship of a pupil.

Some examples of costs.  Pupils education for 1 year £100, sponsoring a teacher for a year £800. Pupils books, pens, paper, uniform, shoes about £35 per year.  1 weeks school dinners for the school since the improvement is around £125 per week.  Student at University for 1 year up to £700.  Micro finance loans around £100.  After repayment the loan is then used for someone else and so on.  Rent is around £350 per month.  We need to buy chemicals for lab experiments, these costs vary depending upon requirements but are normally very expensive by Kenyan cost of living.  We are fund raising to purchase land away from the slums to give the students a far better environment to work in. For this we need around £200,000, to purchase the land and build the new school and boarding accommodation.  We are accepting donations to go towards the purchase of land and building of a new school. We still have to support the school on a regular basis, the forecast support requirement for 2007 is £25,000.   This can be done in various ways, from 'buying a brick' (make a donation and your name will go on a 'wallpaper' brick which will be displayed at the school when it is completed, to sponsoring a classroom (all rooms are open for sponsorship except the Biology lab which has already been sponsored). Donations of building materials/paints etc are also a possibility.

We sometimes have goods and jewellery for sale made in Kenya. Clothes designed by Catherine (male and female) and jewellery by the Maasai for us.

If you feel you can help in any way then please contact us, we look forward to hearing from you.
